Supplier of the Year...And the Winner is Zeller Corporation
The Supplier Award is a program that honors one supplier who has made outstanding contributions to The Gleason Works that align directly with our business goals. Gleason continues to focus on building strong relationships with suppliers who are flexible, innovative, and consistently looking for opportunities to add value for our customers. This award is given annually at the Supplier Meeting to reinforce our Gleason Business Philosophy and serves as a symbol of the respect and appreciation we have for our suppliers. We clearly understand that suppliers are key partners to our success.
The selection process for the supplier award is data driven, reviewing supplier performance in many areas including but not limited to: Cost, Delivery, Quality, Service, Support, and Responsiveness. These categories are weighted to reinforce our company goals and SD’s. Each nominated supplier is scored numerically in these categories and the highest score wins. A supplier needs to be successful in all areas in order to be selected.
Key concepts regarding expected performance from our suppliers were communicated during the meeting. These included:
Being Nimble Involved in New Product Development Willingness to Invest Focus on process excellence Work with Gleason to create competitive advantage Ability to “Over serve” High Quality Focus
For 2008, Zeller Electric, Inc. was awarded the honor of Supplier of the Year. Some accomplishments which drove this selection included:
1. Working in conjunction with Gleason engineering and supply chain, submitted cost savings and avoidances totaling more than 5% of our 2008 spend with them.
2. High level of inventory pull replenishment programs
3. Many joint process improvement projects with documented results and savings.
4. Overall Report Card Score rating on-time delivery, quality, and administrative issues for 2008 of 96%-‘ A ’ rating
5. High degree of flexibility, reacting quickly to our changing requirements. Strong synergy while interfacing with many different departments within Gleason.
Zeller Electric has made a significant, positive impact to our current business and they continue to demonstrate their interest and ability to support Gleason in the future.
