Modicon – Programmable Controllers and HMI Equipment

VSG Enviromation is an authorized systems integrator for Modicon products. Modicon is a manufacturer of programmable controllers, motion controls, I/O devices, communication networks, control software and human-machine interface devices. Modicon products are designed to work together on an open platform to provide a complete control system.

Job Histories:

Water Filtration Plant – Village of Avon, NY Overflow Retention Facility Control of variable speed pumping facilities and flow control valves/gates for diversion, storage and draining of sewage outflow during storm conditions. Coordination of two (2) pumping facilities via tone telemetry. A Modicon PLC control was interfaced to a Robicon VFD’s, via Modbus Plus communication network. Special drive alternation controls and manages power line harmonics by paring drives.

Town of Clarendon – Water District #3 Telemetry System Microwave radio links a Modicon PLC based level control system for potable water storage tank and well controls.

Barnstable, MA Aeration Control System integrated control and instrumentation system for regulating Dissolved Oxygen (DO) levels in an aeration process. Control of four (4) centrifugal aeration for blowers with local equipment protection and master control for sequencing and air flow control. Modicon PLC based with Modbus Plus communications.

Abu Dhabi International Airport – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Plant wide controls were installed for an airport central chilled water system. Local controls were installed for two (2) new Carrier 17 Series and four (4) existing York International OM Series centrifugal water chillers. Chilled water circulation pumps, chilled water plant ancillary systems (such as make-up water, blowdown, water treatment, and compressed air systems) also received local controls. The chillers are electrically driven with air-cooled condensers. Nine (9) Modicon 984 programmable controllers, networked via a Modbus Plus data highway, provide distributed control for local equipment and plant sequencing. Two (2) remote supervisory computers are networked via a Modbus Plus and an Ethernet local area network. A supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA) was installed using an Intellution Fix/DMACS man-machine interface software.
